Antique Ear Plug in Engraved White Metal

This antique tapered ear plug is the type of jewel that inspired our modern body jewelry. It looks quite like the Tsabit gauged hoop earrings worn by the North African Tuareg Tribe. The curved half-hoop has a round plug at one end and a large, decorative terminal at the other. The decorative terminal is elegantly sculpted and engraved with geometric patterns. Cast in a white base metal, this ear plug is not hypo-allergenic. It is gorgeous, though. Circa 1900.
