This timeless Victorian necklace is exceptional, its preciousness stems from its extraordinary craftsmanship as much as from its generous 31.79 grams of 15k gold. It never ceases to amaze how a 150 year old piece of jewelry can feel so modern. Elaborate open rectangle links are joined by fanciful knot work links. The links are highly detailed and beautifully finished. The chain secures with a bolt ring closure. This is where the design of the necklace elevates the piece...a segment of matching chain may be added to that bolt. This piece of chain ends in a swivel watch hook. Pendants, lockets and fobs can be added easily to the hook and/or the bolt and the segment may be clipped in to the chain to lengthen the necklace. A stunning piece that may be worn in so many ways, its versatility is only limited by your imagination. Circa 1870.
This necklace is pictured here with an antique gold cross. The cross compliments the chain beautifully. It is available and sold separately.
This line of jewelry is all about my two favourite things, the art of adornment and the art of re-purposing. I use pieces that are no longer viable in their original configurations by taking them apart and creating fresh, wearable pieces of jewelry.
Details.....The chain measures 17" long and 4.2mm wide. The watch swivel is 3.25" long. This piece weighs 31.79 grams. In Very Good Antique condition.
Each item from this line of Jewelry is unique and incorporates re-purposed Vintage and Antique pieces. Small imperfections are to be expected and considered part of their charm.
