This striking hand made ring is set with a piece of glittering goldstone. The coppery goldstone is set in a finely detailed, asymmetric sterling silver ring. The stone is framed in a double row of rope detail. A delicate leaf curls around the corner of the stone. Signed by the artist with the maker's mark LH. Circa 1970.
The "gem" commonly referred to as Goldstone is in actuality a type of specialized glass. It is created by mixing copper and other metal oxides with molten glass and allowing tiny crystals of metallic copper to form.
