A gorgeous European Arts & Crafts swag brooch with a lovely little mystery. The generously-sized brooch is composed of two ornate silver pieces, connected by four short segments of silver chain. Each piece is set with a carnelian cabochon. The top piece has two carnelian dangles, the bottom has silver dangles and swags of chain. Wonderful open work pierces the top piece of the brooch, and exquisite engraving embellishes the whole. It creates a dramatic, avant-garde effect. Here's the mystery: the back of the brooch is engraved with the name "Julie Fon." Who is Julie? Did she make the jewel? Did she own it? Our research has revealed only that the name "Fon" has German origins. The piece also bears an unidentified maker's mark and the "830s" mark for European 800 grade silver. Circa 1900.

Details.....The brooch measures 1.97" by 4.2". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
