Romantic Lava Cameo in Engraved Silver Ring

This ring is wonderful, with poetic elements that spark the imagination. A Victorian era cameo depicting a Roman woman wearing a crown of flowers in her beautifully coiffed hair is set in a sterling silver ring, framed in a sawtooth bezel. An engraving of chrysanthemums in the Art Nouveau style encircles the top of the ring. This piece has a certain mystique about it, a Pre Raphaelite flavor that marries Classical motifs with late 19th Century romance. The cameo dates from circa 1880.
