Gorgeous Agate in 18k yellow gold. This type of translucent leopard agate was popular in the very early 1800's and this necklace holds a large and unusually fabulous specimen. The bezel is a hand cut scalloped bezel fitting the agate perfectly, the decorative edging is a succession of intertwining knots. The agate is suspended on a modern 18k recycled gold chain, it is suspended from the original hooks. This unique and lovely piece dates from circa 1820. Details.....The wearable length of the necklace is 17". The top of the agate pendant measures 2.23" x 1.47", the bottom dangle measures 1.54" x .84". In Very Good Vintage Condition, with an old repair to the bottom pendant. The chain is a modern replacement. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
