This Victorian hard stone cameo is set in an elaborately engraved floral frame brooch. The gold sheet frame is embellished with sensitively rendered flowers and leaves, with a pearl set above the cameo. The woman's face is carved from the white bands of the hard stone and contrasts dramatically with the black band background. Her dress is marvelous and her hair is elaborately coiffed. The figure has the three dimensional quality you want in a high-quality antique cameo. The back of the brooch includes a receiving locket, meant to preserve a lock of a loved one's hair. This wonderful piece features a hinged bale as well as a pin, so it may be work as a pendant as well as a brooch. We think this beauty would look spectacular worn on a black velvet ribbon. Circa 1890.
Description.....In Very Good vintage condition, the piece shows some wear to the metal. You should always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique jewels we consider it a part pf their charm.
