Delicate Montana Sapphire Bar Pin in Platinum & 14k

An exquisitely crafted bar pin of lacy platinum over yellow gold, set at center with a Montana sapphire. The brooch is shaped as a very subtle bow; elongated, with a slightly pinched center and lobed ends. A pierced pattern of vines and flowers is crisply engraved creating a glittering shine. The Montana sapphire is the cornflower blue hue so valued in these gems. The Edwardian practice of layering platinum over yellow gold, 14k in this case, is used beautifully here, adding dimension to the brooch. The bar pin secures with a safety clasp. So delicate, it's the perfect weight for a light blouse or scarf. Circa 1915.
