This Mid Century Modern brooch is understated, with fascinating details. A subtly convex plaque of sterling silver, with an amorphous shape reminiscent of an artist's palette, is covered with delicate crosshatch engraving. A shimmering iridescence enhances the fine texture. Three 18k yellow gold leaves are applied to the plaque, they have the tender, curling shapes of herbs. The back of the brooch is stamped "925," "750" for 18k gold and with a crown mark. Circa 1950.
