A jaunty little antique nosegay brooch of garnets and pearls. The Victorians loved the romantic Dark Sparkle of garnets; we see many lovely garnet brooches from this era, and this spray of flowers is unusually light, open, and asymmetrical. Wine-colored rose cut garnets form delicate flower petals, while pearls define flourishing leaves. The gems are set in scrolling 800 grade silver. The back of the brooch is stamped "800". Delightful, and the ideal weight for wear on lace or light weight knits. Circa 1860.
Details.....This brooch measures 1.22" by 0.76". In Very Good Antique Condition. Some wear should be expected on all vintage and antique pieces, we consider it to be part of their charm.
