The little black dress of necklaces. Graduated black faceted glass beads are strung on silk with tiny black spacer beads. The necklace is finished with a beaded brass extender chain and a hook adorned with a black glass flower. This sophisticated strand of beads was made by Miriam Haskell. Circa 1960.
Miriam Haskell is one of the best known and most collectible names in 20th Century costume jewelry. She was an incredibly successful business woman, producing elaborate and highly detailed handmade jewelry for all of the brightest Hollywood Stars from the 1920s through the 60s.
Details.....This choker length necklace measures 13.5" with a 3.5" extender chain. The beads graduate from 5.8mm to 13.5mm and the clasp is 11mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition, one bead on the extender chain shows significant facet wear. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
