I have always been enamored with this earring design from the 1840s. The elongated teardrop of creamy white agate appears to be floating in an engraved foliate frame and is suspended from a complementary circle of agate in its own frame of flowers and leaves. The bottom dangle can be removed from the top and the tops worn on their own, these are Day & Night earrings. The top alone would be proper for day wear in the 1800s and the dangle added for evening. These earrings are back loaders, which means the wire goes thru the back of the ear and snaps into the front. 18k yellow gold.
Details.....The are 2.30" long when worn all together. The tops alone measure .65" by .75". The bottoms alone measure 1.73" by .79" wide. They are in Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
