A dark blue cushion cut sapphire sits at the center of a double halo of fabulous glittering diamonds. The diamonds are bead set in an elongated octagon platinum top, classically Art Deco in its forms. The sapphire nestles in a raised yellow gold bezel. The platinum top sits over a 14k yellow gold split-shoulder ring with lovely ajouring. This mixed metal construction technique is so luxurious and versatile, too. The inside of the ring's shank is stamped "56," which is interpreted as a Russian mark for 14k gold. A breathtaking example of early 20th Century glamour. Circa 1910-20.
