An enchanting French Belle Epoque diamond lavaliere that may be worn as a necklace or a brooch. Swirling foliate swags and garlands form the body of the light and airy pendant. Sixty old European cut accent diamonds are set in crisp, white platinum with exquisite engraved details. The platinum is layered over a buttery 18k gold gallery in the style of the era. Two pear-shaped diamond drops dangle gracefully from the center of the pendant. The engineering of this convertible piece is so clever. The back is fitted with a removable hinged and locking pin; the pin allows the piece to be worn as a brooch. Two ingeniously configured hooks allow the platinum wirework chain to be attached, turning the piece into a necklace. Such a delightful example of French craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility. Circa 1900.
This necklace comes with an insurance replacement cost appraisal. The appraisal is done by an independent gem lab. The appraised value is $8000.
Diamond Details.....The two diamond drops are pear shape brilliant cuts with SI1 clarity and H-I color; one weights 0.32ct, the other 0.38ct. Sixty old European cut accent diamonds have a combined weight of 0.39ct, with a SI-I clarity and H-I-J color range. The total diamond weight of this piece is 1.09cts.
