An edgy little fish bones pendant. The sassy skeleton is rendered as a sterling silver silhouette, with big round eyes and spinal column engraved. This is a studio piece from Taxco, Mexico; one side of the fish is stamped "925," "Mexico" and with the maker's mark "TO-70" down its spine. The stamping gives this pendant the edgy, Punk Rock aesthetic of a dog tag. The fish skeleton hangs on a large, decorative bale from a modern curb chain of recycled sterling silver. Circa 1960.
The city of Taxco is an important center for Mexican silver jewelry design. During the 1940s Taxco drew jewelry artists from all over the world. The main attraction for the designers and studio jewelers was the abundant locally mined supply of materials, silver and semi precious gems.
Details.....The chain is 16" long and the pendant measures 0.31" by 1.09", 1.35" with bale. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
