This lovely Sølje brooch is made of gilded sterling silver. The brooch is handwrought into a frame of exquisitely worked wire hearts and the mirror discs twinkle and shine. Circa 1930.
Norway’s traditional silver jewelry is called Sølje, a word that means "sunny" and "shiny." This jewelry, usually brooches and pendants, is made of silver wire, handworked into the shapes of hearts and flowers and covered with dangling, shining silver discs. The discs act as mirrors, reflecting evil away from the wearer. Søljejewelry is often worn by new brides, for good luck and to deflect bad luck and ill intentions.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.30" in diameter and the discs measure 0.40" in diameter. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels.
