Incredible Siam Silver & Niello Erawan Elephant Cuff

A majestic three-headed elephant is engraved on this incredible sterling silver and niello enamel cuff bracelet. An engraved dancer poses on each side of the elephant. Graceful foliate details curl around the figures. One edge of the crown-shaped cuff is flourished, with a tall, peaked center. The other edge is flat. The niello enamel is rich and glossy with a gunmetal color. The three headed elephant is Hindu/Buddhist in origin. Called Erawan in Thai, it is most well known in mythology for carrying the god Indra across the sky. The inside of the cuff is marked "Silver" and "Siam." Circa 1940.
