Everyone needs a good strand of pearls. Mikimoto invented cultured pearls, they were the first and remain the best. This choker-length strand of Mikimoto cultured pearls are a glowing creamy white, hand knotted on white silk. The pearl-set sterling silver clasp bears the Mikimoto makers mark. This classic necklace comes in its original Mikimoto fitted box, perfect for gifting. Circa 1950.

Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.

Details....The necklace is 15" long and the pearls measure 6.6mm in diameter. The box measures 3.98" by 5.82". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it a part of the charm.
