Navajo fetishes depict animals such as the wolf, badger, bear, mountain lion, eagle, mole, frog, deer, ram, and others. In the Navajo cosmology, and those of neighboring tribes, each animal is believed to have inherent powers or qualities that may aid the owner. True fetishes are sacred and do not leave the village. However, Navajo and Zuni artists create "fetishes" that are for sale.
Details.....The necklace is 32" long. The bear fetish measures 7mm by 3.6mm. It weighs 1.4 ounces. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
