This breathtaking French pendant has the opulent details we expect from the Belle Epoque, and it swivels open to reveal handy mirrors. The generously-sized pendant is silver gilt covered in exquisite engine-turned engraving. Its decorative front features bright red guilloché enamel with an applied silver design of weapons, a bow, arrow, quiver, and saber, are framed in laurels and ribbons. The silver is set with glittering marcasites and a dreamy blister pearl. The internal edge is hallmarked with a tiny dragonfly, and the Parisian "Libellula" mark. The exterior of this piece is in lovely condition; the silvering on the mirrors are damaged, they are stable with no sharp edges. Circa 1900. This is a "dance mirror" used to watch other dancers at the ball while one is herself dancing.

Guilloché enamel is a decorative technique in which a very precise, repetitive pattern is machine engraved into metal, then covered with a layer of translucent enamel. The intricate engraved geometric patterns are visible through the enamel.

Details.....The compact measures 1.82" by 3.02". In Good Antique Condition, with damage to the mirror. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
