Twelve strands of "Rice Crispies" pearls create a frothy mass of luxury in this lush vintage bracelet. The freshwater pearls are strung on silk and gathered together by a gorgeous decorative clasp, a baroque pearl set in a nest of 14k yellow gold. Like sea foam breaking on a golden coral reef. The beautiful slide clasp is finished with a safety latch and is marked "K14" on its back. Circa 1980.
Solid nacre nucleated pearls were the first freshwater pearls cultivated by the Chinese, introduced to jewelry markets in 1981. These highly iridescent pearls were dubbed “Rice Crispies” pearls because they looked like the cereal, elongated and full of little surface wrinkles. “Rice Crispies” pearl jewelry was often known for its wonderful decorative clasps.
