Shell Shaped Antique Compass Fob

This wee compass fob has a fanciful shell shape. The gold sheeting is covered in engraved curlicues. The composition of this fob is a thin layer of 15k rosey gold over a resin form, this was a common way to make affordable fancy shaped items in the 1800's, there are a few spots where the gold has worn thru to show the resin, it is still quite fabulous tho. Circa 1860.

Details.....The compass measures .91" across. Visible wear to the gold sheeting. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
