Favourite Day and Night Faceted Gold Dangle Earrings

These are really special Day & Night earrings. Substantial dangles, each composed of three drops of faceted 9ct gold globes, hang from navette-shaped tops. The dramatic drops are removable; during the day you can wear just the faceted tops, then add the elaborate dangles for evening fanciness. Each of the three drops moves independently, and the bottoms swing beautifully from the tops. These earrings are back loaders, which means the wire goes thru the back of the ear and snaps into place in the front. The earrings are marked with a small 9ct on the bottom of one dangle. The facets give the 9ct gold a mellow glittering glow. Circa 1850.

In the 1850s gold finesses changed in England and 9ct gold was introduced, these earrings date to that early use of 9 carat.

Details.....The earrings are 2.32" long when worn all together. The tops alone measure 0.59" by 0.22". In Very Good Antique Condition, with light wear to the tops. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
