Shimmering Antique Opal and Old Euro Cut Diamond Halo Ring

This stunning ring features a flashing oval opal within a halo of eccentric old mine-cut diamonds. The unique sparkling white antique diamonds emphasize the opal's pink, blue, and green fire. Pictures never show the true beauty of an opal. The old European cut diamond halo and the natural Australian opal are prong set in platinum, and the body of the ring is 14k yellow gold. Circa 1890.

Gem Details...The diamond surround comprises 14 beautifully matched old European cut diamonds. The diamonds are SI in clarity and H-I-J in color. The total weight of the diamonds is approx. 1.40tcw.

The first discovery of what is considered modern-day opals was in South Australia in 1849, and the world fell in love with them. This lovely opal has a beautiful play of colors, including pink, green, and blue. The surface of the opal has a slight matte finish due to its age, which I find beautiful.
