A fabulous sterling silver clamper bracelet resembling pre-Columbian style bat wings. Repoussé silver work gives the curling wings a three-dimensional quality. The back of the bracelet is hinged, allowing the wings to wrap easily around the wrist. This dramatic bracelet was made at a high point in Mexican jewelry design. The bracelet's interior is marked "BD Hecho en Taxco Mexico 925." Circa 1940.

The city of Taxco is an important center for Mexican silver jewelry design. During the 1940s, Taxco drew jewelry artists from all over the world. The main attraction for the designers and studio jewelers was the abundant supply of locally mined materials such as silver and semi-precious gems.

Details.....The bracelet's front measures 3.5" wide, the back is 1" wide, and it measures 2.27" across. The approximate interior circumference is 7". This piece weighs 1.67 ounces. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
