Superb craftsmanship and exquisite simplicity of design elevate this gold and almandine garnet brooch, signed by the important French artist Paul Gillot. Ten oval faceted red-purple garnets are prong-set in a classic oval frame. The substance of the 14k gold frame is immediately apparent, unmistakably luxurious. The security clasp is stamped on the pin stem with Gillot's maker's mark. So elegant, it's the perfect size and weight for a coat, jacket, or blazer. Circa 1910.
