Georg Jensen Amphoric brooch design 314, crafted in sterling silver and mahogany enamel. This avante-garde jewel was designed for Jensen by Henning Koppel. A curvaceous boomerang shape, fashionable in 1950s Atomic Age design, is inlaid with rich red-brown enamel. There is a surreal element to this brooch, open to playful interpretation. Marked on the back "925 S Denmark," "Georg Jensen," "HK" and "314." A rare and beautiful piece of jewelry history. Circa 1950.
Georg Jensen (1866-1935) was a Danish silversmith and designer who achieved international prominence for his commercial application of modern metal design. The simple elegance and fine craftsmanship of his work is recognized around the world.
Henning Koppel (1918-1981) developed what we think of as “Danish design." He studied sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy and in Paris. He began collaborating with Georg Jensen in 1946, going on to win many awards including the Milan Triennial, the International Design Award, and the Lunning Prize.
Details.....The brooch measures 2.73" by 1.2". In Excellent Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
