A lush nosegay brooch of a three-dimensional lily rendered in glossy sterling silver. The petals are curled tenderly in a naturalistic fashion. A cabochon of something that resembles chalcedony punctuates the flower's pistils. Spiky leaves and curling tendrils complete this gorgeous sculpture. The brooch fastens with a rollover clasp. Marked on the back, "Pat.apld.for," "Sterling," and with the Cal Art maker's mark. Big. Bold. This heavy brooch is perfect for wear on coats, jackets, and other heavy fabrics. Circa 1940.
The Carl Art Company was a Providence, Rhode Island jewelry manufacturer founded in 1936 by German immigrant Carl Schraysshuen and American businessman Arthur Loercher.
Details.....The brooch measures 2.3" by 2.78". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
