Extra Special Pools of Light and Rock Crystal Deco Necklace

This necklace contains rock crystal spheres, "Pools of Light" which posses incredible energetic and optical qualities. Ten luminous orbs wrapped in sterling alternate with elegant stacked faceted rock crystal beads that complete this gorgeous necklace. I have had several pools of light necklaces and many lovely faceted rock crystal pieces in my career but never one like this, this necklace combines two of the most iconic Art Deco styles in one amazing jewel. Circa 1920.

The 1920s saw a Chinoiserie craze: Chinese art, design, and fashion were wildly popular and exerted a strong influence on the western world. Fashionable women adorned themselves with strings of exquisite Chinese beads made of glass, jade, and crystal. “Pools of Light“ rock crystal beads are one of the most beautiful and interesting examples of this trend. Each glowing sphere contains a spark of Chi, the Chinese word for life force. The crystals may not be drilled or pierced lest the Chi escape. Therefore the spheres are typically wrapped rather than strung. The un-drilled crystal spheres act as convex lenses, flipping light upside down and casting beautifully diffused pools of light upon nearby surfaces. 

Details.....The necklace is 16.15" long and the crystal orbs each measure 12.1mm in diameter. In Excellent Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
