An exceptionally pretty Corn Maiden pendant in sterling silver. There is something special about her, with her lovely face and the squash blossom hairstyle worn by unmarried Hopi women. She was created using the Hopi overlay technique in which a carved layer of polished silver is applied to a layer of oxidized silver, creating a wonderfully graphic effect of contrasting textures. The Maiden has a large decorative bale that is the ideal size to accommodate a leather thong or strand of beads. Circa 1980.

Across Native American cultures, the Corn Maidens symbolize the prayers of the people for a bountiful harvest.

Sale items are final sales. No returns, no exchanges and no refunds, please.
