Magnificent Lapis Beads with Gold & Pearl Clasp

A luxurious lapis and crystal bead necklace with a gorgeous centerpiece that doubles as a clasp. Glossy oval lapis beads alternate with faceted crystal rondel spacers, hand-knotted on white silk. The oval centerpiece is a 14k gold clasp, set with an oval lapis gem, framed in twisted gold and wired seed pearls, and accented with small lapis cabochons bezel set on either side. This dramatic piece is marked on the clasp, "WL" for jeweler Walter Lampl. Lapis lazuli is magnificent, and this necklace is a perfect showcase for its beauty. Circa 1930.

Walter Lampl's motto was "Creators of the Unusual, As Usual." He produced fine and costume jewelry in his eponymous company from 1926 to 1945. Lampl's history is fascinating, too long to recount here. I highly recommend you look into his inspiring story.

Details.....The necklace is 16" long, and the clasp measures 1.7" by 1.05". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; it is a part of their charm.
