What. The. Heck. This fish skeleton necklace is completely awesome. The skeleton pendant is composed of six sterling silver segments, articulated to give them a lively wriggle. He's got it all: head, ribs, vertebrae, and tail. Stylized angles give the bones an edgy, cartoonish look. His face is everything, with big round eyes and a cute little mouth. His bony tail forms a clever bale. The dead fish hangs on a vintage sterling chain with heavy oval links. The back is marked "Taxco Mexico 925," "MMC," and it bears the Mexican eagle mark for sterling silver. This slippery fellow is large ... a big, dramatic necklace that feels awfully Punk Rock for the 1940s.

The city of Taxco is an important center for Mexican silver jewelry design. During the 1940s, Taxco drew jewelry artists from all over the world. The main attraction for the designers and studio jewelers was the abundant locally mined supply of materials, such as silver and semi-precious gems.

Details.....The chain is 17" long, and the links are 6.3mm wide. The fish pendant measures 1.55" wide by 4" long. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
