Wonderful Georgian Crystal Heart Locket with Gold & Garnet

This wonderful antique locket dates to the 18th Century. The heart-shaped locket (in the past, hearts were not always depicted with a dimple at the top) features crystal in a frame of lacy 12k-14k gold. Table cut garnets accent the gold, amplifying the heart motif. This sweet piece has a long, open bale that is cunningly situated to not be visible through the crystal. The crystal locket would have originally held a painted miniature or lock of hair; it is ideal for displaying a small photo, pressed flower, butterfly wing, or whatever your imagination dreams up. Circa 1780.

Details.....The locket measures 0.82" by 1.28". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
