The last decade of the 19th-century brought symbolism and spiritualism into every area of life as people contemplated the new century and what it might bring. Moons, stars, comets, and other heavenly phenomena were popular motifs in clothing and jewelry. A gentle arc of alternating pearls and sapphires graces this slender crescent moon brooch. The creamy pearls are post set, and the dreamy sapphires are prong set, adding interesting texture to the 14k yellow gold piece. The moon's horns are brightly polished. The brooch fastens with a long pin and security clasp. Pearls and sea-blue sapphires remind us of the mystical moon's relationship to our deep and mysterious oceans. Circa 1910.

Details.....The crescent measures 2.41" long and is 2.8mm at its widest point. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
