A sweet kitty face brooch from the important artist Margot de Taxco. Colorful enamel is applied to sterling silver, giving the cat an intense blue-eyed stare from a pretty white face. Her nose and other details are enameled pink, and she has applied silver whiskers. This brooch fastens with a security clasp. The back is stamped "Margot de Taxco," "Made in Mexico Sterling," and has the Mexican Eagle 16 sterling mark. It is also marked with the design number 5522. Margot de Taxco's designs were numbered 5100 to 5790, so this is her 422nd design. This piece was made at the height of her career.
