Beautifully crafted, these earrings are a grand display of the Day-&-Night style. The gold work is stunning, measuring 18-20k in fineness. The glorious textural effect is a technique called hand-picking and allows the gold to catch the light just so. Small five-petaled flowers are beautifully wrought, bringing vitality to the organic gold curves. Gold was scarce during this time, and whoever made these created a convertible masterpiece able to be worn in 4 distinct combinations. Small gold hooks and rings are seamlessly integrated, allowing you to remove and combine the two tiers of drops, creating the perfect look for any event. Finding a pair of earrings of this versatility and quality in such amazing condition is a blessing. They are finished with extra long ear wires for comfort and security. Circa 1840-50.
