The subtle glamour of these cultured pearl earrings make them perfect for any occasion. Three very slightly graduated pearls are set in a shallow arc, creating kind of a half hoop effect. The pearls are a creamy white with a glowing nacre. They sit in scalloped pearl cups on curved bars of 14k white gold, with easy to wear post fittings. Romantic jewels that will make lovely bridal earrings. Circa 1950.
Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Kokichi Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
Details.....The earrings measure 0.90" long, and the pearls graduate from 7.2mm to 7.6mm in diameter. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect all vintage and antique jewels to show some wear; we consider it part of their charm.
