22k Gold Hand Engraved Roman Soldier Ring

This ring is made of 22k gold. The gentle concave of the surface is hand engraved with a Roman Soldier on Horseback holding a spear; this carved surface is set in a bezel with an arrow pattern, which is also hand engraved. The outer edge of the setting has a double twisted wire embellishment, pairing beautifully with the twisted wire at the shoulder of the half-hoop style band. This ring tests as 22k gold and has all the softened edges and tiny dings I love in Antique High Karat Gold. While this ring is difficult to date, as the techniques used to make it have been in use for many hundreds of years, I believe it is from the Archaeological revival period of the mid-1800s.

Details.....The top measures 24.4mm x 16.5mm, the band measures 2.3mm. It weighs 12.4 grams. I would prefer not to size this ring. It is difficult to measure this style of ring for finger size; that said, it is somewhere around an 11. In Excellent Antique condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
