A keeper ring was intended to secure other larger or more valuable rings on the finger during an era in which sizing rings to fit may have been impractical or impossible. Function meets beauty in the true Victorian style. This fine English example has a double twist of 18ct gold looped across the top, flanked by graduated gold ball detail. This handsome band was clearly worn for this purpose, leaving the balls on one side attractively dimpled. Although this ring will still serve its original purpose nicely, it is also charming worn alone and will make a fine wedding band. Hallmarked for Birmingham, England, 18ct gold, and the years 1897-98.
Details.....Currently a size 7. The top of the ring measures 18.9mm by 5.7mm, and the band is 2.6mm wide. In Very Good Antique Condition, with wear in keeping with its age. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
