An elegant sliding clasp gives this beaded jet choker the seamless look of a collar. The plaques are silver with a floral design set with clear paste gems. The beads are faceted black jet, there are 9 strands. A very elegant look, dating from circa 1900.
Queen Alexandra created a fashion for collars and chokers in women's adornment during the early 20th c. The Queen consort wore them to cover a scar on her neck, every other woman wore them to be fashionable.
