A handsome diamond belcher ring with a romantic heart motif. Set with a glittering .40ct old European cut diamond, displayed in the classic buttercup fashion. Six integrated prongs create the fluted petal-like pattern that gives this style of ring its charming nickname. The 14k gold setting gently tapers from wide openwork shoulders to a half-round band; the shoulder design recalls knotwork, and the gold is sculpted into stylized hearts. The diamond has a small chip on its girdle that does not detract from the stone's bright sparkle. Hearts and flowers make this piece perfect for any kind of commitment ring. Circa 1910.
The belcher setting (also called the buttercup setting) has prongs integrated into the body of the ring. Popular in the late 1800s, this style offers a sleek, tapered design with a low profile.
Details.....Currently a size 9.25. The top of the ring measures 7.7mm, and the band is 2.6mm wide. In Good Antique Condition, the diamond has a small chip on the girdle. You should expect all vintage and antique jewels to show some wear; we consider it part of their charm.
