Copper jewelry was all the rage from the late 1940s to the mid-1960s. From designer firms like Renoir and Matisse to small studio artists, this trend produced fabulous wearable art. This fabulous necklace, signed for Matisse, is a fierce example of the unique style. A series of amphora-shaped copper plaques are enameled white with black-spattered bases. Copper links formed like three paint drips connect the enameled plaques. The gorgeous, graphic necklace is finished with a copper extender chain. This is a well known Matisse design, very collectible. Circa 1950.
Details.....The necklace is 13" long, 19" with extender chain, and the enameled panels measure 1" long. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
