This radiant matinee-length strand of pearls has a lovely diamond-set platinum clasp. The creamy cultured pearls are graduated in size and hand-knotted on white silk. The pierced and engraved Art Deco platinum clasp is set with nine sparkling little diamonds. The luster and sheen of the pearls are lovely. Circa 1920.

Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or a small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.

Details.....The necklace measures 20" long. The pearls graduate in size from 2.7mm to 5.9mm. The clasp measures .28" by .67". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it a part of the charm.
