Really Fabulous Book Chain with Hook Panel

There are a few theories about why these types of chains are referred to as book chains. I think its because the little folded links look like the front and back of a book, some say it is because these flat links were often used as bookmarks. Whatever the reason for the name this is a pretty awesome chain. The three link tail which holds the watch swivel hook is completely removable so you can just wear this as an attractive shiny collar necklace. I like to keep the hook on it because I am obsessed with attaching fabulous things from to it, a fob, a locket, a charm or all of them. The links are sheeted with gold. The ingredients date to circa 1880, the bolt 1940.

From the Married Chains Collection by Ancient Influences. All of the ingredients in this necklace are recycled, antique and vintage. I love using vintage findings and am thrilled to discover just the right split ring or hook for a piece.

Details.....The necklace measures 19" long. The chain measures 7.6mm wide. The drop is 2.25" long. Each item from this jewelry line is unique and incorporates re-purposed vintage and antique pieces. Small imperfections are to be expected and considered part of their charm.
