This is the most aggressively New Wave bracelet I have ever seen, crafted in 1986 by renown artist Mardi-Jo Cohen. The bangle is a flat, polished, sterling silver ring, pierced with a variety of geometric shapes. Round and rectangle-cut onyx stones are bezel set and applied to the piece, extending beyond the edges of the bangle. Two bezel-set garnet accents add a little fire to the design. Bold, graphic, with that wild Memphis Group aesthetic. A very collectible piece, signed "Mardi-Jo Cohen 1986." Circa 1980.
Mardi-Jo Cohen was born in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from the Tyler School of Art in 1982. In 1989, she received the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Her work is in the collections of Yale University, American Silver Museum, the American Craft Museum, and the Museum of Art and Design in NYC.
Details.....The bracelet measures .58" wide, and the longest bar is 1.9" long. Its inner circumference is 8.65". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
