Antique Woven Hair Pin with Gold Details

A lovely little antique pin made of woven human hair. The hair has been woven into mesh tubes and panels and finished with gold appointments. Very sweet, with the design of leaves and a daisy worked in. This pin is delicate and light weight. It secures with the C-clasp pin common to the era. Circa 1850.

During the Victorian Era it was popular to weave your hair into a piece of jewelry as a sentimental gift for a loved one. Women saved their hair for this purpose; some wove the hair themselves while some employed specialty jewelers who would weave the hair and mount it in elaborate designs. 

Details.....Measures 1.46" by 1.10". In Very Good condition for its age. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
