Chinese Carnelian Rivière Silver Gilt Necklace

This Chinese rivière necklace is set with luminous carnelian in a gorgeous shade of orange. The rectangle-cut stones are slightly translucent; they glow in the light with a deep warmth. Silver gilt links display the carnelian in eight-prong settings; the links are open-backed and lightweight, highlighting the gems beautifully with their soft golden color. Small silver gilt rings connect the links. The necklace fastens with a hidden carnelian-set clasp, marked on its back with Chinese characters. Everything about this piece is lovely and warm and quite wearable, too. Circa 1920.

Details.....The necklace is 15.5" long, and the links measure .47" by .36". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it a part of their charm.
