Chinese Sodalite Beads on Gold Silk with Filigree Clasp
This strand of cobalt-blue sodalite beads is freshly strung on old-gold colored silk and finished with a Chinese clasp of silver gilt filigree. The gold color of the silk is the perfect shade to accentuate the deep mottled-blue of the sodalite beads. So beautiful, they really knew their beads in the 1920s.
During the 1920's Chinese design was all the rage. Women adorned themselves in jewelry from China and carved gemstones in traditional designs were very popular. Sodalite is a member of the feldspathoid mineral group and a very popular stone in Chinese jewelry.
