Dark & Dreamy Bloodstone Bead Necklace
Darkly dreamy, this Edwardian bloodstone bead necklace has a strange and subtle beauty. The glossy round beads are strung on a blackened sterling silver bar link chain. The piece is finished with a spring ring clasp. This collar length necklace gracefully accentuates the clavicle bone. Circa 1900.
Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, is typically an opaque green jasper with inclusions of red hematite. The red inclusions may resemble spots of blood. Bloodstone is said to aid in protection, purification, and courage. Pliny the Elder claimed that magicians used it as a stone of invisibility, but we make no guarantees on that account.
Details.....The necklace is 17" long. The beads measure 17.4mm in diameter. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
