Dramatic Pressed Glass Buddha Necklace

This fabulous necklace is a great example of the dramatic fashions of the 1920s. Black and carnelian-colored glass is pressed into Chinese-style beads, all strung on silver links. A pendant molded in the shape of the Meditation Buddha hangs from the beaded necklace. The pressed glass has crisp detail, with saturated color and a fine, glossy finish.  

The 1920s saw a Chinoiserie craze: Chinese art, design and fashion were wildly popular and exerted a strong influence on the western world. Fashionable women adorned themselves with jewelry inspired by a Chinese aesthetic.

Details.....The necklace has a wearable length of 18". The link-shaped beads measure 1.03" by 0.71" and the Buddha pendant is 1.93" by 1.46". In Very Good Vintage condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
